Frequently Asked Questions
Several of us share one 1815DN — how does that change cartridge life?
Sharing concentrates volume. A 1815DN sitting on the office network collects print and copy jobs from everyone within reach, so its single 310-7945 cartridge works through its 5,000-page rating far faster than the same machine would on one person's desk. If four people each print what looks like a modest amount, the shared total is what the cartridge feels — budget on the team's combined output, not on your own.
What does toner cost per page on a shared machine?
This cartridge costs $49.92 and is rated at 5,000 pages, which works out at roughly one cent per page. On a shared 1815DN that figure is easy to track against the machine's page counter, and it is a reasonable mid-range cost for a compact mono multifunction printer — neither bargain-basement nor premium.
Is this an original Dell cartridge?
No. It is a compatible 310-7945 unit made by a third-party manufacturer to the specification the Dell 1815DN works with. The $49.92 price, the 5,000-page high yield rating and the cover set out below all describe this compatible cartridge, not Dell-branded stock.
How do we avoid the shared printer running dry mid-week?
Watch the page counter rather than waiting for faded output. When the installed cartridge passes roughly 4,000 pages, order the next 310-7945 so it is on the shelf before the first light prints appear. On a shared machine a dry cartridge stops several people at once, so the reorder point matters more than it would for a personal printer.
Does copying from the glass use toner from this cartridge too?
Yes — copies are printed pages, and the 1815DN makes them from the same 310-7945 cartridge as network print jobs. Only scanning to a file or sending a fax image electronically avoids toner entirely; receiving a fax prints it, and that page counts against the cartridge as well.
What cover does this cartridge come with?
A 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns stand behind every unit, so a cartridge that fails early returns to us at no cost to you. Terms are set out on our shipping & returns page, support is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, and stock ships from our warehouses in IL, PA, GA or CA.
