Frequently Asked Questions

What part numbers should I see on the four boxes?

CB540A for black, CB541A for cyan, CB542A for yellow and CB543A for magenta — the 125A family in full. On color-critical work it is worth learning the order, because a drifting hue is diagnosed by naming the station behind it.

My blues are coming out purple — which cartridge do I look at first?

Blue is built from cyan and magenta, so a purple shift means one of the two is weakening or laying down unevenly. Compare a test page's color blocks: if cyan looks washed, the CB541A is the suspect; if the magenta block is the pale one, look at the CB543A. Reseating the suspect cartridge settles many cases before any replacement is needed.

What yields are quoted for this set?

Around 2,200 pages for the CB540A black, and roughly 1,400 pages each for CB541A, CB542A and CB543A at standard coverage. Presentation and photo-style pages use considerably more color per sheet, so on a CP1518 doing that work the colors will cycle faster than the black.

A cartridge is fading but not empty — can a gentle rock help?

Often, briefly. Removing the cartridge and rocking it side to side redistributes the toner inside and can restore even output for a while. Treat it as a way to finish the current job gracefully; the cartridge is still near the end of its life and its sealed replacement from this set should go in soon after.

Does this set fit the networked, image-handling variant of this printer?

It does — the supplies are shared with the Color LaserJet CP1518ni, and the four codes above are what its supply information calls for. Extra paper and network features on that variant do not change the cartridge list.

What backing comes with these compatible cartridges?

They are covered by a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns, a year of straightforward protection on all four.

About This CP1518 125A Four-Color Set

This $75.93 set is aimed at the CP1518 whose output gets looked at closely — client presentations, portfolio pages, color proofs. Renewing CB540A, CB541A, CB542A and CB543A together restores a known, balanced starting point, so any later color shift can be traced to a single station instead of four unknowns. Individual colors from the HP compatible range are available when one hue runs ahead of the others.

Orders leave our IL, PA, GA and CA warehouses, and the shipping & returns page spells out delivery and returns. Support answers Monday through Friday, 9 AM–5 PM CST.

The set is shared by the Color LaserJet CM1312nfi, Color LaserJet CP1215, Color LaserJet CP1515n, Color LaserJet CP1518ni and Color LaserJet CM1312 MFP. Each cartridge is also sold on its own — CB540A black, CB541A cyan, CB542A yellow and CB543A magenta — so a single colour can be topped up without replacing the whole set.
