Frequently Asked Questions

My printer says a color is low but will not say which — how do I confirm it is yellow?

Look at a recent color print. When yellow dies, greens turn plainly blue, warm tones go cold, and highlights lose their glow, because yellow is the ingredient that builds those shades. If that matches what you see, the cartridge to order is CB542A — the yellow station of the 125A family.

Why is yellow the hardest empty cartridge to spot?

Yellow is the lightest toner on the page, so its absence hides inside other colors instead of leaving an obvious blank. Most people notice the wrong colors first — odd greens, purple-looking skies — long before they suspect the yellow supply itself.

How far does one yellow cartridge go?

Roughly 1,400 pages per cartridge at standard coverage. Photo-style prints and full-color flyers use yellow steadily in the background of almost every shade, so a color-heavy desk will see the lower end of that figure.

Do I have to touch the other cartridges to fit this one?

No. The yellow station comes out on its own in machines like the Color LaserJet CM1312 MFP. Pull the old yellow, seat this cartridge until it sits level, and the remaining stations carry on untouched.

Will one test page tell me the swap worked?

Mostly, yes. Print something with green and warm tones in it — a chart or a photo page. If the greens come back balanced and the warmth returns, the new yellow is feeding properly. Give it two or three pages if the first still looks slightly cold.

What protection does this cartridge come with?

It is covered by a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns, so the purchase is protected for a full twelve months.
