Frequently Asked Questions

What happens to colour partway through a long run as cyan fades?

It walks. Early sheets carry full, confident blues; later sheets drift violet and the greens tire, because the Phaser 7800 is laying less cyan into the same file. A long run is where a dying 106R01566 does its worst damage — the first fifty pages approve fine, and the drift is only spotted when the set is compared side by side.

Should a cartridge ever be changed in the middle of a run?

Avoid it. A fresh cartridge feeds colour a touch richer than the tired one it replaces, so a mid-run swap builds a visible step into the set — page 80 suddenly bluer than page 79. If the level looks doubtful before a long job, change the cartridge first and run the whole set on one unit; consistency across the run matters more than squeezing the last pages out of the old one.

What two-minute check protects a deadline job?

Look at the cyan level and print one test sheet with a solid blue block before the run starts. The gauge tells you the supply, the block tells you the truth — an even, dense fill means the run can proceed; a streaky one means swap now, at leisure, instead of reprinting under pressure later.

The listing name says "Cartridges" — how many are in the box?

One. This is a single 106R01566 cyan cartridge at $88.49, rated at 17,200 pages; the plural wording belongs to the series name, not to the contents. For production work that distinction matters — plan spares on the basis of one unit per order.

Does heavy coverage really eat into the 17,200-page rating?

Honestly, yes. That figure is measured at light coverage; a run of full-colour sheets with wide blue areas can draw cyan several times faster. Treat 17,200 as the test-bench number and your own coverage as the real one — on graphics work the practical life of the cartridge is set by how much blue the work carries.

What cover comes with this cartridge?

A one-year warranty and free returns for a year, laid out on our shipping and returns page. Shipments leave warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, support runs Monday to Friday, 9 AM–5 PM CST, and the family's remaining supplies live on the Xerox toner page.
