Frequently Asked Questions

Why do proofs betray a tired cyan cartridge before ordinary pages do?

Because proofing is colour judgement, and cyan carries the blues and greens being judged. On a Phaser 7800 DG used for checking work, a cyan cartridge in its last stretch shifts skies toward mauve and dulls sea-glass and foliage tones while text pages still look perfect. If a proof's blues feel wrong but the file checks out, suspect this cartridge before suspecting the artwork.

Does the DG suffix change which cyan cartridge the machine takes?

No. The letters after 7800 describe how that particular machine was configured — paper handling and graphics options — while the toner bay stayed the same across the whole family. The high-yield cyan for a 7800DG is this same 106R01566, one cartridge rated at 17,200 pages.

How do I read banding across a solid blue area?

Direction tells the story. Faint stripes running across a flat blue fill, worst where the fill is widest, usually mean the cyan supply is feeding unevenly because it is nearly gone — the colour with the largest area shows starvation first. Print the same fill in a single other colour: if that one is smooth, the cyan cartridge is the culprit, not the machine.

The listing name says "Cartridges" — is this a multi-pack?

It is not. This listing is one single 106R01566 cyan cartridge at $88.49; the plural wording is series naming, not a count. One box, one high-yield unit — worth knowing before you plan stock around a pack that is not coming.

When in a proofing cycle should the cartridge be swapped?

Between jobs, never mid-proof. A fresh cartridge lays colour slightly differently from a tired one, so changing cyan halfway through a set of proofs can make page one and page six disagree with each other — the exact failure a proof exists to catch. If the level looks marginal before an important proof run, swap first and proof on the new cartridge from the start.

What cover comes with this cartridge?

A one-year warranty and free returns for a year, detailed on our shipping and returns page. Orders dispatch from warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, support is staffed Monday to Friday, 9 AM–5 PM CST, and the rest of the family's supplies are gathered on the Xerox toner page.
