Frequently Asked Questions

My printer is a Phaser 6000B — does the B call for a different black cartridge?

No. The B is part of the machine's model badge, a configuration variant of the 6000 — it does not reach into the toner bay. The black cartridge for a 6000B is the same 106R1630 that feeds the plain 6000, and that is the cartridge in this listing.

What should I look for on the cartridge I am replacing?

The stamped part number: 106R1630. Listing names and model badges vary across this platform, but the code on the black cartridge is constant. Match the code and the replacement is right, whatever the badge on the printer says.

How many cartridges am I actually buying here?

One — the title's plural wording notwithstanding. This is a single-cartridge listing: one compatible 106R1630, $29.92, rated at up to 2,000 pages. If the plan was to stock a spare as well, that is what the family's multi-pack listings are for.

How far does one cartridge go in a 6000B?

Up to 2,000 pages at the standard measurement of about 5% coverage — around 1.50 cents of toner a page at this price. The 6000 series is a light-duty desktop platform, so for a modest user one black cartridge can be many months of printing; heavy graphics work shortens that, as it does on any machine.

Is this black only, or a color cartridge as well?

Black only. The 6000B is a color printer, but each color lives in its own cartridge with its own part number, and the 106R1630 fills just the black slot. Black is listed on its own because documents run on it — it is typically the first cartridge these machines ask for.

Where else does this cartridge fit, and what cover does it carry?

Across the platform: the Phaser 6000 beside this 6000B, the Phaser 6010, the Phaser 6010N, and the WorkCentre 6015 with its WorkCentre 6015V/B and WorkCentre 6015V/N variants. Cover is a one-year warranty plus free returns for a year — see the shipping and returns page — with shipping from IL, PA, GA and CA, support Monday to Friday, 9 AM–5 PM CST, and the rest of the range on the Xerox toner page.
