Frequently Asked Questions

Is this the black cartridge only, or the whole color set?

Black only. This listing is the 106R01163 cartridge that feeds the black position of the Phaser 7760. The machine's color supplies are separate cartridges under their own part numbers, and nothing here covers them — check the message on your printer's panel: if it names black, this is the cartridge being asked for.

The name says "Cartridges" plural. How many are in the box?

One. The wording is a leftover of how these listings are titled, but the price of $42.79 and the description are for a single cartridge. If you want spares in the same order, the 2, 3 and 5 packs of this same 106R01163 are listed in this family — each of those bundles states its count in the name and means it.

How many pages should I expect from it?

The rating is up to 32,000 pages in black at the standard 5 percent coverage, which prices out at about 0.13 cents of toner per page. A 7760 used for graphics proofing lays down heavier coverage and finishes sooner; one running reports and correspondence should come close to the rated figure.

Why does black run out on its own schedule?

Because each color sits in its own cartridge with its own fill, and on most 7760s black handles the text-heavy everyday work while the colors wait for specific jobs. The four supplies empty at four unrelated times — which is exactly why they are sold separately, as this one is.

Does it matter which 7760 build I own?

No. This cartridge serves the Phaser 7760DN and Phaser 7760DX exactly as it serves the standard machine, and the GX and Y-suffixed builds besides. The letters mark out the printer's feeders, finisher and network fittings; the black slot is identical across the range.

What am I covered by if something goes wrong?

A one-year warranty and free returns lasting a full year, detailed on our shipping and returns page. Parcels go out from warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, and you can reach the support desk Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.

About This Phaser 7760 Black Cartridge

This is the model-named face of the family's single: one compatible 106R01163 black cartridge at $42.79, found by owners who search by printer instead of by part number. Same cartridge, same 32,000-page rating, same cover as the number-named listing — the two simply meet different shopping habits. Everything else the platform needs is collected on the Xerox toner page.
