Frequently Asked Questions

Is 106R01163 the exact number I should be matching?

Yes. If the empty cartridge you pulled out is stamped 106R01163, this listing is its like-for-like replacement: the same black fill, the same cartridge body, the same rated yield of up to 32,000 pages. Part numbers are the surest way to buy toner for the Phaser 7760 range, because the printer itself exists under half a dozen badge variants while the number on the cartridge never changes.

What does the 32,000-page rating actually mean?

It is the manufacturer's yield figure measured at the industry-standard 5 percent page coverage — roughly a page of ordinary text. At $42.79 the toner works out to about 0.13 cents per rated page. Coverage is the swing factor: a graphics studio printing dense proofs covers far more of each sheet and will see fewer pages, while a machine that mostly runs letters and reports can land close to the rating.

Is this a cartridge for the black slot only?

It is. The Phaser 7760 keeps its colors in separate cartridges, and 106R01163 fills only the black position — this listing says nothing about the color cartridges, which are different part numbers bought separately. If your panel is calling for black, this is the one it wants.

Which printers take this cartridge?

Every build of the Phaser 7760 platform: the base Phaser 7760, the networked Phaser 7760DN and the Phaser 7760DX, along with the GX and Y-suffixed configurations of the same machine. The suffixes describe how the printer was equipped, never a different toner.

How do I know the black cartridge is really finished?

Watch the print, not just the warning. When text starts coming out grey instead of solid black, and gently rocking the cartridge side to side to redistribute the powder buys you only a few more pages, the fill is spent. The on-screen estimate is a counter, not a gauge, so faded output is the honest signal.

What cover do I get with this cartridge?

A one-year warranty and free returns for a full year, spelled out on our shipping and returns page. Orders leave from warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, and a real support desk answers Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
