Frequently Asked Questions

What does the DX configuration change about toner?

Nothing. A Phaser 7760DX is the generously equipped build of the platform — the letters speak to its paper handling and finishing hardware — but its black slot is the standard one, and it loads this same 106R01163 cartridge, rated at up to 32,000 pages, exactly like the base machine.

Why does a DX seem to eat black cartridges faster?

Usually because of what the machine is asked to do. DX builds tend to live in production corners running long jobs at high coverage, and page coverage — not the badge — decides how fast a fill falls. At the rated 5 percent coverage the cartridge returns its 32,000 pages; dense proofing work will always pull that figure down.

Can I swap the cartridge in the middle of a long run?

Yes, and on a production machine that is the practical answer to an empty slot: the printer pauses, you exchange the spent cartridge for this one, and the job continues. Keeping a sealed spare beside a DX is standard practice in shops that cannot let a run stall over a supply.

What does the black toner itself cost per page?

At $42.79 for up to 32,000 rated pages, the arithmetic is about 0.13 cents a page — modest against the paper and finishing costs of a typical DX workload, and one reason the compatible cartridge is popular in costed production environments.

Which machines does this listing cover besides the DX?

The whole platform. The base Phaser 7760 and the Phaser 7760DN take this cartridge as well, as do the GX and Y-lettered builds — one black supply, 106R01163, for every configuration Xerox sold.

What cover stands behind this cartridge?

A one-year warranty and free returns across a full year, laid out on our shipping and returns page. Shipments leave warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, and our support desk keeps Monday to Friday hours, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.

About This 7760DX Black Cartridge

Listed under the DX badge for owners who shop by machine name, this is one compatible 106R01163 black cartridge at $42.79 — the platform's single black supply, whatever the configuration letters say. Production users who burn through them should look at the family's multi-packs for a lower unit price; the rest of the platform's range is on the Xerox toner page.
