Frequently Asked Questions

A shared 7760DN prints for the whole office. How long does one black cartridge last?

Work it out from the machine's monthly volume. This 106R01163 is rated at up to 32,000 pages, so an office running 4,000 black pages a month gets roughly eight months per cartridge at standard coverage, and a busier department at 8,000 a month still gets a quarter. At $42.79 that is about 0.13 cents of toner per rated page, spread across everyone who prints.

Does the DN build need its own cartridge type?

No — networking is a printer feature, not a toner feature. The Phaser 7760DN loads the same 106R01163 black cartridge as the base Phaser 7760 and the Phaser 7760DX. The DN letters were never a supply distinction, here or on the GX and Y builds either.

Who should keep the spare for a shared machine?

Whoever gets the "toner low" call — usually the office manager. The practical pattern for a DN is one cartridge in the machine and one sealed spare in the supply cupboard, reordered when the spare goes in. That way a shared printer never sits idle waiting on a delivery that twenty people depend on.

How do we tell when the cartridge is truly empty?

By the pages. The printer estimates consumption and warns early; a cartridge is finished when text prints grey after a gentle side-to-side rock to redistribute the powder no longer restores solid blacks. On a shared machine, that visible fading is the cue the whole office can read.

The listing title says "Cartridges." Is this a single?

Yes, one cartridge at $42.79 — the plural wording is a quirk carried by several titles in this family. Genuine multiples are the family's 2, 3 and 5 packs, which name their counts and lower the unit price accordingly; many DN offices step up to those once they know their rhythm.

What cover does the office get with it?

A one-year warranty and free returns for a full year, with the full terms on our shipping and returns page. Orders ship from warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, and the support desk answers Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.

About This 7760DN Black Cartridge

This is the DN-badged doorway to the family's single: one compatible 106R01163 black cartridge at $42.79, rated at 32,000 pages — the same supply the whole 7760 platform shares, listed under the networked build's name for the offices that run one. Heavier DN users will find the multi-packs better value per cartridge; both live on our Xerox toner page.
