Frequently Asked Questions

What does the Y in 7760YGX stand for, in toner terms?

In toner terms, nothing at all. The YGX letters are part of the printer's configuration badge — they describe the equipment package the machine was sold with, not a supply variant. The black slot of a 7760YGX accepts the platform's one black cartridge, 106R01163, which is what this listing is: a single unit rated at up to 32,000 pages.

Does a graphics-configured machine need a different black?

No. Across the 7760 range the black cartridge never split into standard and graphics versions. Studios running a YGX for color-critical work load the same 106R01163 as an office running the plain badge, and the printer treats it identically.

How far does the cartridge go on graphics work?

The 32,000-page figure assumes the standard 5 percent coverage. Proofing and production graphics cover much more of the sheet, so expect fewer pages in that environment — the honest way to judge the fill is by output: when blacks that printed solid start washing to grey, the cartridge is nearing its end, whatever the page count says.

What is the running cost at this price?

$42.79 against a 32,000-page rating is about 0.13 cents of black toner per rated page. In a studio budget that is a minor line next to paper and color supplies, which is why most YGX owners simply keep one spare on the shelf and reorder the single as needed.

Does this fit the other 7760 badges too?

It does — the cartridge is platform-wide. The Phaser 7760, the Phaser 7760DN and the Phaser 7760DX all load it, and so do the remaining GX, DX and Y configurations of the same machine.

What if the cartridge misbehaves?

It carries a one-year warranty, and returns are free for a full year — the terms are gathered on our shipping and returns page. Stock ships from warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, and the support team is reachable Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
