Frequently Asked Questions

Why does this box hold five cartridges when the printer only has four toner positions?

The fifth cartridge is a shelf spare drawn from the same group of part numbers. The Phaser 7760 works through one position faster than the others depending on what you print, and that position is rarely predictable months ahead. Keeping a fifth cartridge in the cupboard means the first empty slot — whichever color it turns out to be — is covered without an emergency order, and the machine never waits on a delivery.

Which part numbers are involved?

The set is built from the platform's four high-yield cartridges: the black 106R01163, rated at up to 32,000 pages, and the cyan 106R01160, magenta 106R01161 and yellow 106R01162, each rated at up to 25,000 pages. Five cartridges in total ship in the box, covering every position the printer has, with the extra one held back as the spare.

How long is a set like this likely to last a busy office?

That depends on the color share of your work, because the ratings rest on the standard 5% coverage test page. A document-led office can stretch the black cartridge a long way, while brochure and chart work draws the colors down sooner. The practical reading is that the colors will ask for attention first on graphics work and the black will lead on paperwork — the spare in this set exists precisely because the order is hard to forecast.

Which printers is it for?

The Phaser 7760 platform in its main forms: Phaser 7760, Phaser 7760DN and Phaser 7760DX, with the GX, YDN, YGX and YDX configurations sharing the same fitting. Whatever the suffix, the toner load is identical.

How should the spare cartridge be kept until it is needed?

Sealed, flat, and in a cool spot out of direct sunlight — an office cupboard shelf is ideal. Toner in unopened packaging keeps well over long periods, so there is no pressure to use the spare by any particular date; it simply waits until its position calls for it.

What protection and delivery come with it?

The set carries a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns; the full wording is on our shipping and returns page. Dispatch is from the nearest of our IL, PA, GA and CA warehouses, and our support team answers Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST if you want help confirming the part numbers.
