Frequently Asked Questions

Why would a studio refresh all three colours at once before a big proofing job instead of replacing whichever bay runs dry?

Because a proof is a promise. When a client signs off a proof for a brochure, a pack design or a brand board, they are approving those exact colours — and the press run or the reprint has to land on them. Cartridges wear unevenly, so a brand-new cyan beside a half-spent magenta quietly tilts the balance: corporate blues go green at the edge, skin tones warm up, brand reds drift orange. Changing cyan, magenta and yellow together resets the colour engine to a single known starting point, so the proof the client approved this month still matches the work delivered next month.

What exactly is inside this box?

Three cartridges, one of each colour in the platform's range: cyan 106R01160, magenta 106R01161 and yellow 106R01162, every one of them rated at 25,000 pages. There is no black cartridge in the set — the black unit for these printers, 106R01163, is sold from its own listing, because mono text and line work consume it on a completely different rhythm to the colours and it rarely needs changing on the same day.

Each colour is rated at 25,000 pages. How should a graphics user read that number?

As a measuring stick, not a forecast. The rating is counted on letter pages carrying 5% coverage, and graphics work breaks both assumptions at once: an A3 or tabloid sheet presents about twice the printable area of a letter page, and a proof, a poster or a full-bleed board can cover half that sheet or more. Between the three cartridges the set holds 75,000 rated colour pages, yet a fortnight of heavy proofing will move through the allowance far quicker than the headline suggests, while lighter output — drawings, layouts with open white space — comes closer to it.

How does the price work out per cartridge and per page?

The set is $216.14 for the three cartridges, which is about $72.05 for each 25,000-page colour unit. Divided across the set's 75,000 rated colour pages, the colour side of the printer costs roughly 0.29 cents per rated page. That is a like-for-like costing on rated pages — the same basis the yield figures themselves use — and real coverage on graphics work will push the effective figure around, as described above.

Which printers is this set made for?

The Phaser 7760 family: the Phaser 7760, Phaser 7760DN and Phaser 7760DX, together with the 7760GX, 7760YDN, 7760YDX and 7760YGX variants. Finishing options, paper handling and network features separate those models; the colour engine is shared across all of them, and it takes the same three cartridges everywhere — 106R01160, 106R01161 and 106R01162.

What warranty, returns and delivery cover come with it?

Each cartridge is backed by a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns, so a unit that bands, streaks or fades ahead of its rating goes back for a replacement or a refund rather than becoming the studio's loss. Orders ship from whichever of our IL, PA, GA or CA warehouses sits closest to the delivery address, and the support team is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST. Full detail on charges, timeframes and the returns route is on our shipping & returns page.

About This Three-Cartridge Colour Set for the Phaser 7760

This is the complete colour side of the Phaser 7760 platform in one box: cyan 106R01160, magenta 106R01161 and yellow 106R01162, one cartridge of each, every unit rated at 25,000 pages — 75,000 rated colour pages in total — priced at $216.14. It is aimed at the way these graphics-class A3 machines are actually used: colour-critical proofing and production where an approved proof has to match the delivered run, and where changing the three colours together keeps that match honest. Black (106R01163) is stocked separately, and the rest of the supplies range for these printers is gathered under Xerox. Every cartridge in the set carries the 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns described above.
