Frequently Asked Questions

What is gained by changing all four cartridges in the same stretch of work?

Cartridges that start life together tend to age together. Fit the full group in the same week and the four levels stay roughly in step, so the machine's remaining life is easy to read at a glance and the next restock becomes one planned order. Replace positions months apart and the levels scatter — there is almost always one cartridge close to empty, and it is usually discovered mid-job.

Why does the black rating run 7,000 pages past the color ratings?

Capacity, plain and simple. The black 106R01163 is built to hold more toner and carries an up to 32,000-page rating, because everyday documents lean almost entirely on black. The cyan 106R01160, magenta 106R01161 and yellow 106R01162 are each rated at up to 25,000 pages. Both sets of figures come from the standard 5% coverage test page, so dense color work shortens the color figures in practice.

What happens when one position in the set finally runs dry?

The printer flags the empty position and color output waits until it is changed — a color page needs all four toners present. Swapping that single cartridge takes a couple of minutes and the rest of the set stays where it is; there is no need to disturb positions that still have toner in them.

What exactly is in the box?

One cartridge per position, all high yield: 106R01163 for black, 106R01160 for cyan, 106R01161 for magenta and 106R01162 for yellow. The four together are the complete toner load for the printer, so the set can be fitted as a group or drawn on one cartridge at a time.

Which models take this set?

It is made for the Phaser 7760 and its direct variants, the Phaser 7760DN and Phaser 7760DX; the GX, YDN, YGX and YDX versions of the platform use the same cartridges. Configuration letters change paper handling and finishing, never the toner fitting.

How is the set covered, and how does it reach me?

A 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns stand behind every set — the detail is set out on our shipping and returns page. We ship from warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, picking the stocking point nearest your address, and support is on hand Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST for fitment questions.
