Frequently Asked Questions

The C480FW is the busiest printer in our office — how do we stop it running dry mid-week?

Plan around the warning, not the empty cartridge. The CLT-K404S in a hard-working C480FW is rated at 1,500 pages, and the printer flags low toner while a useful reserve remains — that flag is your reorder trigger. Order the same day and the replacement, dispatched from the closest of our IL, PA, GA and CA warehouses, lands well before the old cartridge gives out. Offices that print at this pace often keep the two-pack of this same cartridge as a shelf spare instead.

How long does 1,500 pages last at a busy office's pace?

Weeks rather than months — that is the honest answer for the busiest desk in the office. A machine turning out a ream of paper a week works through the rating in about three weeks. The cartridge is not underperforming; the rating counts pages, and a busy C480FW simply prints a great many of them.

What is each printed page costing us in black toner?

The cartridge is $50.62 for its rated 1,500 pages, which is about 3.37 cents a page. For a printer carrying the office's correspondence and paperwork, that per-page figure is the number worth tracking month to month — it is also why stepping up to the multi-cartridge packs of the CLT-K404S, where the per-cartridge price falls, pays off at this volume.

Does the same cartridge fit our other Xpress printers?

Yes — the CLT-K404S is the listed black supply for the Samsung Xpress C430, Xpress C430W and Xpress C480 as well as the C480FW this listing names, so stock held for the busiest machine doubles as cover for the others. The color cartridges under the CLT-C404S, CLT-M404S and CLT-Y404S codes are separate supplies, changed only when their own levels fall.

When the black is changed, is anything else due?

No. On this platform the black is one self-contained unit: spent cartridge out, fresh cartridge in, and the printer is back at work in minutes. Nothing else is changed as part of the job, and the color units are left exactly as they are.

What guarantee backs this C480FW cartridge?

A one-year warranty against defects covers the cartridge, and free returns run for a full year from purchase — the details are on our shipping and returns page. Support is staffed Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
