Frequently Asked Questions

Several of us print to the C430W — why does the black seem to vanish so fast?

Because shared printers collect everyone's small jobs. A homework sheet here, a work letter there, a form, a return label — individually trivial, together a steady stream of black pages, and every one of them is printed by the CLT-K404S. The cartridge is not disappearing unusually fast; it is feeding several people's printing at once, and its 1,500-page rating is being shared the same way.

What does 1,500 pages look like in a household?

Picture ten standard 500-sheet reams shared between the whole family across a year — schoolwork, letters, tickets, documents for work — and one cartridge covers about three of those reams' worth of black printing. Households that print in bursts will see it last many months; the rating is consumed by pages, not by time, so a quiet summer spends nothing at all.

Do color pages spend the black cartridge too?

The colored parts of a page are printed by the color cartridges, but the words on that same page are printed in black — so yes, a page of homework with a colored chart still draws on the CLT-K404S for its text. That is the quiet reason the black level falls even in a home that thinks of itself as printing "mostly color".

Which other printers take this same black?

The CLT-K404S is the listed black supply for the Samsung Xpress C430, Xpress C480 and Xpress C480FW as well as the C430W this listing is named for. The color companions sit under their own codes — CLT-C404S for cyan, CLT-M404S for magenta and CLT-Y404S for yellow — and each is changed separately, only when its own level runs down.

Is it worth keeping a spare for a home printer?

For a printer several people rely on, yes: an empty black cartridge on the evening an assignment or a travel document is due is a household emergency entirely out of proportion to a $50.62 cartridge. Ordering when the low-toner warning first appears is the lighter-touch alternative — replacements leave from the closest of our IL, PA, GA and CA warehouses.

What cover backs this C430W cartridge?

Every Clever Supplies compatible cartridge carries a one-year warranty against defects, and your purchase can be returned free of charge at any time within the first year — the full terms are on the shipping and returns page. Support runs Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
