Frequently Asked Questions

Our C430 prints mostly letters and invoices — how long will one black cartridge last us?

On that diet, a long time. The CLT-K404S is rated at 1,500 pages, and letters and invoices are exactly the light-coverage pages the rating is built on. A C430 producing thirty or forty documents a week will take the better part of a year to work through one cartridge; the colors, which only join in for logos and graphics, will last longer still.

Why does the black do so much of the work in a color printer?

Because everyday documents are black documents with color accents. The text of a letter, the figures in a table, the address on an envelope — all of it is laid down by the CLT-K404S, while cyan, magenta and yellow are spent only where the page is actually colored. That is why the black is always the first cartridge a C430 asks you to replace, and why its rating matters more than any other in the machine.

Is this the cartridge the C430's cartridge door names?

Yes — the code to match is CLT-K404S, and matching on that code rather than on the printer's name is the dependable way to reorder. This listing is that cartridge in compatible form, priced at $50.62 for its rated 1,500 pages, which is about 3.37 cents a page.

Does the same cartridge fit the other printers in this range?

It does. The CLT-K404S is also the listed black supply for the Samsung Xpress C430W, Xpress C480 and Xpress C480FW, so if a second machine from the family joins the office later, the spare on your shelf already fits it. Each machine's color cartridges — CLT-C404S, CLT-M404S and CLT-Y404S — remain separate supplies in their own right.

When the C430 warns of low toner, how quickly do I need to act?

Promptly, but without panic: the warning arrives with a useful reserve still in the cartridge, and it is the right moment to order. Your replacement ships from the closest of our IL, PA, GA and CA warehouses. Waiting until pages actually fade risks an empty printer on the day a document has to go out.

What guarantee comes with this C430 cartridge?

A one-year warranty against defects, plus free returns at any point during the first twelve months — the full wording is on our shipping and returns page. Support is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST if you need a hand.
