Frequently Asked Questions

How long should one cartridge last in our SL-M3820DW?

Work it back from your monthly volume. The MLT-D203E is rated at 10,000 pages, so an M3820DW printing 1,000 pages a month stretches one cartridge across most of a year, while a desk pushing 3,000 pages a month will finish it in a little over three months. Check the printer's usage report twice, a month apart, and you will have your own replacement rhythm instead of a guess.

Why pick this yield tier for the M3820DW rather than a smaller one?

The M3820DW is a duplex workgroup machine built for steady daily output, and small cartridges make it stop often. This extra high yield version carries 10,000 rated pages, so the cartridge change becomes a rare event rather than a recurring chore, and the per-page cost drops at the same time — $58.67 spread over the full rating is roughly 0.59 cents a page.

Which other printers take the same cartridge?

Besides the SL-M3820DW, this supply also fits the SL-M3870FW and the SL-M4020ND. The three machines share the MLT-D203E, which is handy when an office runs more than one of them: a single spare on the shelf covers whichever printer calls for toner first.

Our prints have started coming out light. Is it the toner?

Not always. These printers use a separate MLT-R203 imaging drum alongside the toner cartridge, and a worn drum produces exactly that washed-out look even with a fresh cartridge installed. If a new MLT-D203E does not restore solid blacks, the drum is the next suspect — the two parts are replaced independently, on their own schedules.

What page coverage does the 10,000-page rating assume?

Around five percent of the page, which is ordinary text density. Double-sided printing does not change the maths per printed side, but heavy graphics, logos and shaded form fields all lay down more toner and will pull your real yield below the rating. Text-heavy offices usually finish near it.

How are problems handled after the cartridge arrives?

The cartridge carries a full one-year warranty, and if it disappoints you can send it back free of charge at any point within that year. Details live on our shipping and returns page; for anything else, support is staffed Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
