Frequently Asked Questions

Which everyday documents quietly burn through cyan the fastest?

Charts, slide decks and anything with blue logos, headers or shaded table rows draw heavily on cyan, and greens pull cyan together with yellow. A report that looks mostly black on screen can still spend a surprising amount of cyan on its graphics. Photo-heavy pages are the fastest drain of all.

How long does a 6,000-page cyan cartridge realistically last?

At light office color use — a few color pages in every hundred — it can last well over a year, because most pages never touch it. In a graphics-heavy workflow printing several hundred color pages a month, expect closer to six to ten months. The 6,000-page rating assumes roughly 5% coverage, so full-color pages consume it several times faster than the raw page count suggests.

Is cyan printing expensive on this machine? Honestly?

Yes, and it is worth knowing before you buy: at $53.88 for 6,000 rated pages, cyan toner alone runs about 0.90 cents per page at standard coverage — before magenta, yellow and black are counted. Color on this compact platform is a convenience feature, not a bargain, and heavy full-color work costs accordingly. For occasional charts and logos, the cost per document is still small in absolute terms.

Does this cyan cartridge work across the whole platform, or only the MPC406?

It works across the platform. The listing names one model, but the 842092 cyan cartridge fits every machine in the Ricoh MP C306, MP C307 and MP C406 family, and the same cartridge serves them all. Whichever model name your machine carries from that family, this is the cyan it takes.

What do prints look like when cyan starts to run out?

Blues drift toward purple or pink, greens turn yellowish, and skies in photos look washed out — usually before any warning feels urgent. A gentle shake can even out the remaining toner for a short bridge of printing, but it is a bridge, not a refill. Once colors shift visibly, the cartridge is close to done.

What happens if this cartridge arrives faulty or fails early?

It is backed by a one-year warranty, and you have a full year of free returns if it does not perform — see our shipping and returns page for how it works. You return just the one cartridge, nothing else from your order. Our support team is reachable Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
