Frequently Asked Questions

Yellow barely shows on the page — how do we know when it is actually low?

Trust the panel percentage rather than your eyes. Yellow is deliberately pale, so a page can look acceptable long after the cartridge is nearly spent; the percentage readout and the low-toner warning are the dependable signals. When the machine says yellow is low, order then — the replacement takes minutes once it arrives.

Which colors go wrong first when yellow fades?

Greens are the early warning: without enough yellow they slide toward blue and look cold. Warm tones suffer next — oranges lose their warmth, wood tones and skin in photos turn grayish, and bright highlights flatten. If greens look wrong while blues and reds still look right, yellow is the first suspect.

What does a yellow page cost with this cartridge?

The cartridge is $53.88 with a 6,000-page rating, so roughly 0.90 cents per color page at the standard 5% coverage — the same math as the other colors on this platform, and well above the black cartridge's cost. It is another reason to print drafts in grayscale and save color for final output.

Is the 842094 yellow cartridge made only for the MP C307 in the title?

No. The headline names one model, but the 842094 yellow cartridge belongs to the whole Ricoh MP C306, MP C307 and MP C406 compact color MFP platform and fits every machine in the family. Match the cartridge number to your supply list and the model in the title does not limit you.

Does the machine use yellow even when we are not printing color?

Small amounts, yes: periodic calibration and cleaning cycles lay down tiny quantities of all colors to keep the imaging system aligned, and color copies of course draw yellow directly. Scanning uses none. These background sips are minor, but over a long stretch of black-only work they explain why a color cartridge can edge downward on its own.

What protection backs this cartridge?

Every cartridge carries a one-year warranty and one-year free returns — details are on the shipping and returns page. If it underperforms in ordinary use, tell us and we will make it right under that policy. We are reachable Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
