Frequently Asked Questions

Why does a color page on this machine cost so much more than a black one?

Because the color cartridges are rated far lower than the black. This cyan cartridge is rated at 6,000 pages, so at $53.88 the toner alone runs about 0.90 cents per color page, against roughly 0.35 cents for black. That gap is simply the economics of this compact platform, and it is why many offices set the driver to grayscale by default and reserve color for pages that need it.

Which driver settings quietly drain cyan?

Full-color defaults are the main one: when every document prints in color, even a mostly-text page lays down cyan in the background mix. Color logos on letterhead, blue hyperlinks and charts add steady demand too. Switching everyday printing to black-and-white and choosing color deliberately stretches each color cartridge considerably.

What do prints look like when cyan is nearly gone?

Blues turn purplish, greens drift yellow and muddy, and skies in photos look flat and wrong. The change creeps in gradually, so compare a fresh test print against an older good one if output starts looking off. When the panel percentage is low and the colors have shifted, the cartridge is telling you it is done.

Is the 842092 cyan cartridge only for the MP C307 named in the title?

No. The title names one model, but the 842092 cyan cartridge belongs to the whole Ricoh MP C306, MP C307 and MP C406 compact color MFP platform and fits every machine in that family. If your printer is on that platform, this is the right cyan cartridge even though the listing headline shows a single model.

Can we keep printing in black when the cyan runs out?

Generally yes — with no color work queued, the machine can keep producing black-and-white prints and copies from the black cartridge. Color jobs will wait or fail until cyan is replaced, so a shared office that prints color regularly should treat a low cyan warning as a prompt to order rather than a problem for next month.

What cover does this cartridge come with?

A one-year warranty and one-year free returns, with terms on our shipping and returns page. If the cartridge misbehaves in normal service, get in touch and we will replace or refund as the policy provides. Our team answers Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
