Frequently Asked Questions

The machine only holds one cartridge — why buy two at once?

Because the second one is your insurance against a dead printer at the worst moment. The MP 501SPF usually anchors a whole workgroup, and when its cartridge runs dry mid-job there is no color set to fall back on — black is the only cartridge it has. Keeping one sealed spare on the shelf means a swap measured in minutes instead of a machine down for days waiting on a delivery.

What do I actually save with the two-pack?

Two singles would cost $74.81; this pair is $56.12, so you save $18.50 and pay $28.06 per cartridge instead of $37.31. Across the pair's 50,000 rated pages, that pulls your cost down to roughly 0.11 cents per page. The saving is real but modest — the bigger win for most offices is never being caught without a spare.

Which printer is this two-pack made for?

Both cartridges are the 407823 black toner for Ricoh MP 501SPF. Since the machine is monochrome, the pair is simply two of the same cartridge — one to run now and one in reserve. Match the 407823 number against the cartridge you are replacing if you want to double-check before checkout.

How should I store the spare cartridge?

Keep it sealed in its bag, flat, in a cool dry spot away from direct sunlight and heat vents. Stored that way, a toner cartridge waits patiently for well over a year without degrading. When the first cartridge goes in, note the date on the spare's box so the oldest stock always gets used first.

What if one of the two cartridges is defective?

Each cartridge stands on its own. Both are covered by our one-year warranty with free returns for a full year — if the spare misbehaves when its turn comes, contact us and we will make it right without disturbing the one already in service. Details are on our shipping and returns page.

How quickly can I get this pair if the printer is already down?

We ship from four warehouses — IL, PA, GA, and CA — so most destinations see delivery within a few business days. If you are unsure whether this is the right cartridge while the machine sits idle, call us Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST and we will confirm before you order.
