Cross-reference: Ricoh 841886, the Type MP 401 black print cartridge (10,400 pages). This cartridge fits the Ricoh MP 401SPF, MP 402SPF and SP 4520DN — the same machines were also sold under the Savin and Lanier brands with the same model names.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why buy two cartridges when the printer only holds one?

The second cartridge is a shelf spare, not a second slot in the machine. On a multifunction printer that handles the office's printing, copying and faxing, an empty cartridge stops everything at once — having the spare on hand turns a days-long wait for delivery into a two-minute swap.

How much does the two-pack save compared with buying singles?

Two cartridges bought separately would cost $84.82, while this two-pack is $66.33 — a saving of $18.49, bringing the cost down to $33.17 per cartridge. Across the combined 20,800-page yield, that drops the per-page toner cost from about 0.41 cents to roughly 0.32 cents.

Will the spare cartridge go stale sitting on the shelf?

A sealed toner cartridge stores well for an extended period in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Keep it in its packaging until the day you install it, and avoid garages or rooms with big temperature swings; under normal office storage conditions the spare will be ready when the first cartridge runs out.

Does this two-pack work across the whole printer family?

Yes — the listing is titled for one model, but the 841886 cartridges in this pack are built for the entire Ricoh MP 401SPF and SP 4510SF platform, and either cartridge fits any machine in that family. Offices running two different models from the platform can share one two-pack between them.

Can I split the pack between two offices or departments?

Certainly — the two cartridges are individually sealed, so one can go to a branch office or a second department while the other stays in the main supply cabinet. Each cartridge delivers the same rated 10,400 pages wherever it is installed.

What if one of the cartridges turns out to be defective?

Both cartridges carry a one-year warranty, and our return window is a full year with free returns, as set out on the shipping and returns page. Orders ship from IL, PA, GA or CA warehouses, and support is reachable Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, if you run into trouble.
