Frequently Asked Questions

Why do our prints look pale and washed out when no low-toner warning has appeared?

Yellow is usually the culprit, and it is the hardest shortage to spot. When yellow fades, nothing turns obviously wrong the way missing magenta does — the whole page just loses warmth and punch, highlights go flat, and photos look like they were printed through a gray filter. Check the machine's toner gauge: if yellow sits well below the other colors, this is the fix.

How does the running cost of this yellow cartridge look?

It is rated at up to 22,500 pages and priced at $92.52, which works out to roughly $0.0041 per page. It is also the least expensive color in this high-yield family — the cyan and magenta singles are $98.21 each — so the color that is hardest to diagnose is, luckily, the cheapest one to replace.

Which printers does this yellow cartridge fit?

It is the high-yield yellow for Ricoh Aficio MP C4502 and MP C5502, and it works in both models on that platform even though the listing names the C4502. One honest note: the same platform also has a standard-yield family, and this is the larger 22,500-page yellow — if your shelf holds both families, confirm the yield on the box before you swap.

Can the yellow be swapped on its own, mid-way through the other colors' life?

Yes. Each color on these machines is a separate cartridge with its own cycle, and there is no benefit to changing cyan or magenta early just because yellow ran out. Drop the new yellow in, let the machine calibrate, and the remaining colors keep whatever pages they still hold.

What happens if the replacement yellow prints dull or streaky?

Run a few pages first — a fresh cartridge sometimes needs a short run-in before color density settles. If the output is still off, the cartridge is covered by our 1-year warranty, and returns are free for a full year; the steps are laid out on our shipping and returns page.

Is a spare yellow worth keeping on the shelf?

For offices that print presentations, charts or anything with warm tones, yes — a dead yellow quietly degrades everything without stopping the machine, so it tends to be discovered late. A sealed spare keeps in normal office conditions, and orders ship from our warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA.
