Frequently Asked Questions

Why does cyan seem to run out faster than the other colors?

Cyan quietly does more work than people expect: skies, water, corporate blues and greens, and the cyan layer inside most photographs all draw on it. On this platform the color cartridges are rated at 22,500 pages against the black cartridge's 31,000, so cyan also starts with a smaller tank. At $98.21, that works out to roughly $0.0044 per color page.

What are the early signs that this cyan cartridge is getting low?

Blues start drifting toward purple or gray, greens lose their punch, and skies in photos look washed out or banded. The machine's toner gauge will confirm it, but your prints usually tell the story first — especially if one color family suddenly looks wrong while everything else prints fine.

Which machines take this cyan cartridge?

This cyan belongs to the high-yield color family for Ricoh Aficio MP C4502 and MP C5502, and it fits both models on that platform even though the listing names the C4502. An honest distinction: this platform also has a standard-yield color family, so if your supply closet holds both, check the yield on the box — this is the 22,500-page high-yield cyan, not the smaller one.

Can we replace just the cyan, or should colors be changed as a set?

Just the cyan. Each color on these machines is an independent cartridge, and replacing only the empty one is the economical move — the remaining magenta and yellow keep whatever life they have left. The machine will calibrate color automatically after the swap.

What if the new cyan prints streaky or off-color?

Give it a few calibration pages first; fresh cartridges sometimes need a short run-in. If the output is still wrong, the cartridge is covered by our 1-year warranty and a full year of free returns — the process is spelled out on our shipping and returns page.

Should we keep a spare cyan on hand?

If color output is part of your daily work, yes — a single empty color stops color printing on the machine even when the other cartridges are full. Orders ship from our IL, PA, GA and CA warehouses, and the rest of the family is listed on our Ricoh toner page.
