Frequently Asked Questions

Our C3003 mostly prints plain black-and-white documents — how far does one black cartridge really take us?

Further than most people guess. The 841813 black is rated at up to 29,500 pages, and an office whose output is dominated by letters, invoices and reports — light-coverage text — is exactly the workload that rating flatters. A team printing 2,500 pages a month can comfortably see the better part of a year from one cartridge, copies included, since black-and-white copies draw from the same supply.

Why did our colors run low before the black did?

Because in this family the ratings are lopsided: black is rated at 29,500 pages while each color is rated at 18,000. Color pages, charts and the occasional full-color document quietly spend the color cartridges, and many machines also use touches of color in routine composite printing. It is normal on this platform to cycle through colors faster than black — backwards from the pattern on many other machines.

Can we set the machine to stretch the black cartridge further?

Yes — set the print driver and the machine's default copy mode to black-and-white so jobs only go color when someone deliberately chooses it. That single change stops accidental color spending on everyday documents and keeps all text work on the big black cartridge. Toner-save modes exist too, though they visibly lighten output, so most offices reserve them for internal drafts.

What does the per-page cost look like for a text-heavy office?

At $79.94 for a cartridge rated at 29,500 pages, the rated figure is roughly 0.27 cents per page — and text at standard coverage is precisely the use case where real results stay closest to the rating. Compare that with this family's color cartridges at 18,000 pages each and you can see why steering everyday work to black is the cheapest habit this machine rewards.

Which machines take this cartridge?

This is the 841813 black cartridge for the Ricoh Aficio MP C3003/C3503 color MFP platform: Aficio MP C3003, Aficio MP C3004, Aficio MP C3503 and Aficio MP C3504 The page title names the C3003 family, but the cartridge belongs to the platform as a whole — every machine in that list uses this same black cartridge.

How are we covered if print quality drops partway through the cartridge?

The cartridge carries a one-year warranty, and returns on our compatible cartridges are free for a full year, so fading or streaking that traces back to the cartridge gets resolved without a fight. If you want a second opinion on whether it is the cartridge or the machine, call us Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, and see our shipping & returns page for the terms.
