Frequently Asked Questions
Why does the black cartridge for this color printer cost $127.31?
Because it is a big cartridge, not a starter size. This black supply for the Ricoh Aficio SP C830DN is rated for up to 23,500 pages, and on a color machine the black cartridge does most of the real work — letters, invoices, reports and labels are overwhelmingly black text. At $127.31 for 23,500 rated pages, the cost works out to roughly 0.54 cents per black page, which is the fair way to judge the price.
How long will 23,500 pages actually last us?
That depends on your monthly black volume. At about 500 black pages a month, one cartridge can run close to four years. At 2,000 pages a month it lasts roughly a year, and a busy department pushing 4,000 black pages a month will finish one in about six months. The rating assumes standard page coverage, so pages packed with heavy graphics will use toner faster than plain text.
Does this listing include the color cartridges too?
No — this listing is the black cartridge only. The SP C830DN also uses separate color cartridges, and those are sold separately; nothing in this box will refill a color slot. If your machine is only asking for black, this single cartridge is all you need to get it printing again.
Which printers does this cartridge work in?
This black cartridge is made for Ricoh Aficio SP C830DN. If that is the model on your desk, it installs in the black slot the same way the original cartridge does. It is worth checking the model name on the front of the machine before ordering, since Ricoh's SP C-series models look alike but take different supplies.
What warranty and returns come with it?
It is covered by our 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns. If the cartridge fails early or is simply not right for your machine, you can send it back within that year instead of eating the cost. The details live on our shipping and returns page.
How quickly will it ship, and who do I call with a question?
Orders leave from whichever of our four warehouses — IL, PA, GA or CA — gets the cartridge to you fastest. If you want to confirm the model or ask about an order, our support team answers Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
