Frequently Asked Questions
The printer only holds one black cartridge — why buy two at once?
Because when the black cartridge in an SP C830DN runs dry, the whole color machine effectively stops for document work — and black is the cartridge it burns through fastest. This two-pack puts one cartridge in the machine and a sealed spare on the shelf, so a toner-out message at 4 PM is a two-minute swap instead of a rush order. The pair is rated for up to 47,000 black pages combined.
What do I actually save with the two-pack?
Two singles would cost $254.62; this pack is $236.12, so you save $18.50 and the per-cartridge price drops from $127.31 to $118.06. That brings black output to roughly 0.50 cents per rated page. It is a modest saving, but it comes with the spare-on-the-shelf insurance, which is the real point of the pack.
How long will 47,000 pages of black toner last?
On one machine printing around 2,000 black pages a month, two cartridges cover close to two years. A department at 4,000 pages a month gets about a year. You can also split the pack across two SP C830DN machines — one cartridge each — and reorder when the first shelf spare gets used.
Which printers does this two-pack fit?
Both cartridges in this pack are made for Ricoh Aficio SP C830DN. They are black cartridges only; the color cartridges this machine uses are separate items and are not in this box. Each cartridge installs in the black slot just like the original.
If one cartridge in the pack is faulty, do I return both?
No — each cartridge is covered on its own by our 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns. If the first one you open has a problem, you send that one back while the spare keeps you printing; you do not have to surrender the good cartridge. The full terms are on our shipping and returns page.
How should I store the spare, and how fast does the pack ship?
Keep the spare sealed in its packaging, flat and at room temperature away from heat and sunlight, and it will be ready when the installed cartridge gives out. Orders ship from one of our warehouses in IL, PA, GA or CA, and our support team is available Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST if anything comes up.
