Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of operation uses up 100,000 pages of black toner?

More than you might expect. A five-pack covers up to 100,000 pages, which fits a busy shared workgroup printer, a small print room, or an office where the SP 5100N runs statements, contracts, and manuals every day. At 8,000 pages a month, this pack lasts about a year; at 4,000 a month, roughly two years. It is sized for buyers who treat toner like other bulk office supplies rather than an emergency purchase.

How much cheaper is each cartridge in the five-pack?

Each cartridge works out to $52.96, compared with $67.76 for a single — and the $264.82 pack price saves $73.98 against buying five singles. Across the pack's 100,000 rated pages, toner cost comes to roughly 0.26 cents per page, the lowest per-page figure short of the ten-pack.

Which printer does this five-pack supply?

Every cartridge in the pack is made for Ricoh Aficio SP 5100N. They are black toner cartridges for that monochrome printer; the machine uses one at a time and the rest wait in storage as spares.

Where do we keep five cartridges without them going bad?

Store the boxes flat in a supply cabinet or closet at normal room temperature, out of direct sunlight and away from radiators or exterior walls that get hot. Kept sealed in their packaging, the cartridges hold up fine for the full period a pack this size is meant to span. Mark the delivery date on the outer box and always install the oldest cartridge first.

What if we slow down and the last cartridges sit for a long time?

That is the main judgment call with a pack this size. If your print volume drops sharply, the later cartridges may sit longer than ideal — they will still print, but no toner cartridge loves years on a shelf. Each cartridge is protected by a one-year warranty and one year of free returns; the full terms are on our shipping and returns page, and support runs Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST if you want to talk through your volume before ordering.

Can one five-pack be shared across several SP 5100N printers?

Yes, and that is one of its best uses. A facilities or IT buyer supporting several SP 5100N units can hold the pack centrally and issue cartridges as each machine calls for one, keeping a single reorder point instead of five separate ones.
