Frequently Asked Questions

The printer only holds one black cartridge — why buy a two-pack?

Because the second cartridge is your shelf spare. The SP 5100N takes one cartridge at a time, so the value of a two-pack is continuity: when the installed cartridge runs out mid-week, the replacement is already in the supply cabinet instead of on a delivery truck. You also pay $58.51 per cartridge in this pack instead of $67.76 buying singles, saving $18.50 across the pair while covering up to 40,000 pages total.

How much do I actually save compared with two single cartridges?

Two singles would cost $135.52; this two-pack is $117.02, so you keep $18.50. The per-cartridge price drops from $67.76 to $58.51, and the per-page toner cost falls to about 0.29 cents across the pack's combined 40,000-page capacity.

Which printer is this two-pack made for?

Both cartridges in this pack fit Ricoh Aficio SP 5100N. They are black toner cartridges for that monochrome printer only, and each one installs the same way as the cartridge it replaces.

How should I rotate the two cartridges so the spare stays fresh?

Use simple first-in, first-out rotation: install one cartridge now, keep the second sealed in its box, and write the purchase date on the box so there is no guessing later. When the first cartridge is empty, install the spare and reorder at that point — that way your shelf stock never ages more than one cartridge cycle.

Can the two cartridges be split between two different SP 5100N printers?

Yes. The pack is simply two individual cartridges in one shipment, so a small office running two SP 5100N units can put one in each machine. Each cartridge delivers its own full rated yield of up to 20,000 pages regardless of which printer it goes into.

What happens if one of the two cartridges has a problem?

Each cartridge carries a one-year warranty and one year of free returns, and a problem with one cartridge is handled on its own — you do not need to send back the other one. Support is available Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST; the full policy is on our shipping and returns page.
