Frequently Asked Questions

Who actually goes through five drum units?

Busier offices than you might think. Each 43979001 drum is rated at up to 25,000 pages, so a department printing 10,000 pages a month consumes a drum roughly every ten weeks. Five drums is about a year of imaging for that kind of volume — or several years spread across a fleet of B410, B420dn, B430d, MB460, MB470 and MB480 MFP machines all taking the same drum.

How does the drum-change rhythm compare with toner changes?

Toner is the frequent swap; the drum is the long-interval one. A 43979001 drum outlasts several toner cartridges, so most users meet it rarely — which is exactly why its failure surprises people. When output develops repeating marks or a gray background and a new toner cartridge changes nothing, the drum has usually reached the end of its 25,000-page surface life.

What does one drum cost inside this 5-pack?

The pack is $241.95 for five, which is $48.39 per drum against $63.18 bought singly — about $73.95 saved across the five. Per page, drum cost drops to roughly 0.19 cents across the rated life. The drums themselves are identical 43979001 units; only the unit price moves.

How should I store four spare drums without spoiling them?

Keep them sealed, dark and dry. Drum surfaces are light-sensitive, so leave each unit in its packaging until fitting day, store the boxes in a cupboard at normal room temperature, and avoid lofts, boiler rooms or anywhere damp. Treated that way, the fifth drum out of the box will image just as cleanly as the first, even if a year passes between them.

Can I split the pack across different printers?

Yes — nothing ties the drums together. The 43979001 serves the Oki B410, B410dn, B420dn and B430d printers and the MB460, MB470 and MB480 MFP lines, so a 5-pack can be the shared drum stock for every one of those machines in the building. Fit them wherever the wear shows up first; just confirm the outgoing drum carries the same number.

What backing comes with a bulk pack like this?

The same as with a single: these compatible drums carry a one-year warranty and one-year free returns, set out on the shipping & returns page. Stock ships from warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, support hours are Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, and toner for the same machines is collected on the Okidata brand page.

About This B410 Drum Unit 5 Pack (43979001)

Five compatible 43979001 imaging drums for $241.95 — $48.39 a unit, roughly $73.95 less than five singles, and up to 125,000 pages of combined drum life at the 25,000-page rating. Aimed at high-volume departments and small fleets running the Oki B410, B410dn, B420dn, B430d, MB460, MB470 or MB480 MFP, it turns drum replacement from an emergency purchase into shelf stock: when repeating spots or background haze announce a worn drum, the next one is already in the building.
