Frequently Asked Questions

Why would I buy two drum units at the same time?

Because a drum failure never schedules itself. When a 43979001 drum wears out, print quality falls off a cliff — repeating spots, haze, streaks — and the printer is effectively down until a replacement arrives. A second drum on the shelf turns that into a five-minute swap. The other common case is two machines: this drum serves the Oki B410, B410dn, B420dn and B430d plus the MB460, MB470 and MB480 MFP, so a pair can cover two different printers.

How does the $107.87 price break down?

It works out to about $53.94 per drum, against $63.18 for a single — so the pair saves you about $18.49 compared with buying the two drums one at a time. Each drum in the pack is the same 43979001 unit rated at up to 25,000 pages, which means the box holds up to 50,000 pages of drum life in total.

Will the spare drum deteriorate while it sits in storage?

Stored sensibly, no. Drums are light-sensitive, so keep the spare sealed in its packaging, out of direct light, in a normal room-temperature cupboard rather than a hot or damp storeroom. Kept that way it will be ready when the installed drum reaches the end of its 25,000-page rating — which, at moderate volumes, may be a year or more away.

Do both drums have to go into the same printer?

Not at all. They are two individual 43979001 units, not a matched pair. Fit one in the B410 by the front desk and keep the other for the MB470 in accounts, or hold both for one hard-working machine. Any split works, because every printer in the family — B410, B410dn, B420dn, B430d, MB460, MB470, MB480 MFP — takes this identical drum.

How do I know the second drum is the right one when I finally open it?

Check the number on the drum you are taking out: if it reads 43979001, the spare in this pack is its direct replacement. That ten-second check is worth doing at reorder time too — Oki model names overlap across generations, while the drum's part number does not.

Is this a genuine Oki product, and what backing does it carry?

These are compatible drum units built to the 43979001 specification, not Oki-branded parts. Both drums carry a one-year warranty and one-year free returns; you can read the details on the shipping & returns page. Orders ship from warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, and the rest of the range for these printers is on the Okidata brand page.

About This B410 Drum Unit 2 Pack (43979001)

Two compatible 43979001 drum units for $107.87 — about $53.94 a drum, roughly $18.49 less than two singles bought separately. Each drum is rated at up to 25,000 pages, so the pair covers up to 50,000 pages across any mix of the Oki B410, B410dn, B420dn, B430d, MB460, MB470 and MB480 MFP. It suits the office that cannot afford a printer sitting idle while a drum is in the post: one unit in the machine, one on the shelf, and worn-drum defects — repeating marks, haze, streaks — fixed the day they appear. Backed by a one-year warranty and one-year free returns.
