Frequently Asked Questions
What exactly is the 09X?
It is the maximum-capacity member of this cartridge family: a compatible black cartridge stamped C3909XX and sold as the HP 09X. Where a standard supply for these printers is a large cartridge already, the 09X is the extended tank — the one you choose when changeovers themselves are the disruption you want to minimise.
How many pages is this listing's cartridge rated for?
25,000 pages at standard coverage, per this listing's own rating. On a high-volume floor machine such as the LaserJet 5si, that is an exceptionally long interval between swaps. As always, heavy graphics and dense forms consume toner faster than plain correspondence, so busy print rooms should treat 25,000 as the benchmark rather than a promise.
Who benefits most from the extended capacity?
Print rooms and departments where the printer sits in near-constant use and every stoppage queues jobs behind it. Fewer changeovers means fewer interruptions, fewer toner orders to raise, and a supply cabinet that needs attention a handful of times a year instead of monthly.
Does fitting it involve anything unusual?
No. Despite the larger capacity, it installs exactly like any cartridge for this family: lift the cover, slide the finished unit out, pull the sealing tape from the new one, rock it gently to level the powder, and push it home. The printer recognises the supply and resumes work.
What does it cost?
$178.28 for the single C3909XX cartridge, listed within our HP toner cartridges range. One cartridge, one very long service interval, and no additional components needed — the imaging drum is part of the cartridge on this platform.
What warranty and returns apply?
The cartridge is covered by a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns; the details are published on our shipping and returns page. We ship from warehouses in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California, and support is staffed Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
