This is the bottle that makes the 512 family unusual: a pigment document black living inside a photo printer. Our compatible T512020-S bottle carries 140 mL of pigment black ink — twice the volume of every other bottle in the family — rated for up to 8,000 pages on the ISO/IEC 24712 pattern with Epson's methodology.
The ET-7700 and ET-7750 are famous for photographs, but their owners print plenty of paperwork too, and that is this bottle's job. Pigment particles sit on the paper surface instead of soaking in, so text comes out sharp-edged and stays put through water drops and highlighter passes — the laser-like document quality the pigment position exists for. The four dye bottles handle the photos; this one handles everything with words on it.
Read the code before you order — this family flips the usual pattern. In the 512 series the document black is T512020-S. The T512120-S bottle is Photo Black, a different ink for a different tank. Ordering "120" out of habit is the single most common 512 mistake, and the keyed EcoFit nozzle will refuse the wrong bottle at refill time anyway.

Is this the black bottle or the photo black bottle?
This is the document black: T512020-S, pigment ink, 140 mL. The photo black is a separate bottle, T512120-S (dye, 70 mL), listed on its own page. On the 512 family the two are not interchangeable.
Why is this bottle twice the size of the other 512 bottles?
Epson sized the family that way: the pigment black is 140 mL while Photo Black, Cyan, Magenta and Yellow are 70 mL each. The printers shipped with two black bottles in the box for the same reason — document printing consumes black steadily.
How many pages does it print?
Up to 8,000 pages under the ISO/IEC 24712 pattern with Epson's methodology. Real-world yield follows your coverage: text documents track close to the rating, black-heavy graphics use more.
Which printers use this bottle?
Two models, both verified in Epson's own documentation: the Expression Premium ET-7700 and the wide-format Expression Premium ET-7750. No other EcoTank takes 512 ink.
Will it work in my ET-2760 or ET-2800?
No. Those are 502 and 522 printers respectively. The 512 bottle is keyed for the 512 tanks and will not seat in them — and the ink formulas differ as well.
Is the ink pigment or dye?
Pigment. That is Epson's own specification for the 512 black position, and it is why text from these photo printers looks so crisp. The other four 512 bottles are dye.
Can I use this bottle in the photo black tank?
No. The tanks are keyed by position — the black bottle's nozzle only fits the black tank — and the inks do different jobs: pigment for documents, dye photo black for glossy photo shadows.
Does the bottle contain a chip?
No chip at all. Refilling is purely mechanical: keyed nozzle in, auto-stop at full, cap back on. There is no "cartridge not recognized" failure mode with bottles.
What if my prints look faded after a refill?
Run the printer's head-cleaning utility once and print a nozzle check; a partially seated fill or an almost-empty tank is the usual cause. If a Clever Supplies bottle itself is at fault, the lifetime warranty replaces it.
How do I store a part-used bottle?
Cap it, stand it upright at room temperature and keep it out of direct sunlight. It will be ready for the next top-up.
Is this a genuine Epson bottle?
No — it is a Clever Supplies compatible bottle built to the T512020-S specification, labeled as compatible on the box and on this page. It is not manufactured by Epson.
What warranty and returns cover it?
