Frequently Asked Questions

Everything looks pale, but the black text is crisp. What is missing?

Almost certainly yellow. Black text only uses the black cartridge, so it stays sharp to the end. Colour areas are different: they are mixtures, and yellow is the quiet ingredient in a surprising number of them. When the Canon 067 yellow in your LBP632CDW runs low, colour prints lose density and start to look washed out long before anything looks obviously "yellow-ish".

The printer has not warned us yet. Can yellow be low without a warning?

Yes. Toner warnings are estimates worked out from coverage counters, not a gauge dipped in the cartridge. A cartridge that has spent its life on light colour work can be nearly empty while the estimate still shows life left. Pale colour with strong black is a more reliable symptom than the percentage on the screen.

How far will the replacement take us?

This 5099C001 yellow is rated at 1,250 pages. How long that lasts depends on how much colour you print and how yellow-heavy it is — a month of full-colour brochures and a year of mostly-text documents are very different loads, and we would rather give you the rating than a promise we cannot keep.

What does a page actually cost with this cartridge?

The cartridge is $64.27 for a 1,250-page rating, which is about 5.14 cents per rated page. We do not dress that up as the cheapest page in town. It is an honest price for a compatible Canon 067 yellow that holds its colour properly in the LBP632CDW.

Do we have to change the other colours at the same time?

No. Each colour in the Canon 067 family — black 5102C001, cyan 5101C001, magenta 5100C001 and this yellow 5099C001 — is its own cartridge and can be swapped on its own. Replace the one that is low and leave the others to finish their life.

What protection do we have if it does not fix the pale prints?

A 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns, in plain terms. If this cartridge is the problem, we make it right; the details live on our shipping and returns page. Orders leave from our Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia or California warehouses, and support answers Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
