Frequently Asked Questions
Why does this set deliberately leave the black cartridge out?
Because the black lives on a different clock. In the GPR-31 family the black is rated at 36,000 pages and each color at 27,000, so on a machine doing real color volume the three colors reach empty together-ish while the black still has thousands of pages in it. This set — GPR-31C cyan, GPR-31M magenta, GPR-31Y yellow — is built for that moment: the color refresh, without paying for a black you do not need yet.
What does the set save against buying the three colors singly?
$36.97. The three singles total $336.21 at their current prices ($85.81 cyan, $116.76 yellow, $133.64 magenta); the set is $299.24, which also flattens the family's uneven single pricing out to about $99.75 per cartridge. The magenta buyer in particular comes out well ahead of the single price.
Should all three colors be swapped in the same session?
If they are all near the end, yes — and there is a quality argument beyond convenience. Colors of similar age keep a color bank balanced; one brand-new cartridge beside two tired ones can leave output subtly skewed even after calibration. One short session, three swaps, and the machine's color is reset as a system rather than patched piecemeal.
How does a color-only refresh fit a production schedule?
It is a planned fifteen-minute window instead of three separate interruptions across a month. Order the set ahead, hold it sealed until the first color genuinely gives out, then change the bank in one pass during a quiet stretch. The black keeps running on its own longer cycle and gets its own order when its turn comes.
What if only one of the three is actually empty?
Then change that one and shelve the other two — nothing forces a simultaneous swap. The set is a pricing and logistics bundle, not an instruction. Sealed cartridges wait patiently in a cool, dry spot; just note the purchase date and use this stock before any newer set you buy later.
What if one cartridge from the set turns out faulty?
It is handled individually. Each cartridge carries the 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns, so a bad GPR-31C, GPR-31M or GPR-31Y is replaced or returned on its own while the other two stay in the machine.
