Frequently Asked Questions

Five cartridges for a four-slot printer — what's the thinking?

Continuity. A four-cartridge change leaves the shelf empty, so the next time a cartridge runs out mid-job, work stops until a delivery arrives. With a five-cartridge set, one cartridge is still on the shelf after a full refresh, and on a machine like the MF8380CDW that prints every day, that spare is the difference between a two-minute swap and a two-day wait. Which color your office leans on hardest, your own page counter will tell you.

How does the pricing compare with the four-cartridge set?

The five-cartridge set is $127.17 against $110.04 for the straight four — a difference of $17.13 for the extra cartridge, well below what any single 118 cartridge costs bought alone. Averaged across the box, the set lands at about $25.43 per cartridge. For an office that already knows it will use every cartridge, it's the cheapest way we sell this platform's toner.

What yields should we plan around?

The black cartridge (2662B001AA) is rated at up to 3,400 pages and each color — cyan 2661B001AA, magenta 2660B001AA, yellow 2659B001AA — at up to 2,900 pages, all at the standard 5% coverage. Plan from those per-cartridge numbers and your monthly meter reading; we deliberately don't add the ratings into one headline figure, because a color page draws on all four cartridges at once and a single summed number would flatter the set.

Our MF8580 goes through toner fast. Is five at once too much stock?

For a fast machine, no — it's roughly one full refresh plus insurance. For a printer that sits idle most of the week, it would be over-buying, and we'd say so: cartridges store well sealed and cool, but money sleeping in a supply cupboard earns nothing. Match the set size to your meter reading over the last quarter and the honest answer usually makes itself.

What if a cartridge from the set turns out faulty?

It's covered individually, like everything we sell: a 1-year warranty against defects and 1-year free returns if it doesn't perform as it should. You report the one problem cartridge; the rest of the set stays in service. The full terms are on our shipping and returns page, and support is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.

How do we keep track of which cartridge went in when?

A strip of tape and a marker beat any spreadsheet: write the install date on each cartridge as it goes in. When print quality dips months later, that date tells you instantly whether you're looking at an old cartridge reaching its end or a newer one with a genuine problem — and it turns a vague complaint into something our support team can actually act on.

About This Set

This five-cartridge compatible Canon 118 set is built around the four cartridges your printer uses — black 2662B001AA (up to 3,400 pages) and cyan 2661B001AA, magenta 2660B001AA and yellow 2659B001AA (up to 2,900 pages each) — with an extra cartridge so a change never leaves the shelf bare. It serves the imageCLASS MF8330, MF8350, MF8380 and MF8580 families and the LBP7200/LBP7660 series, ships from one of our four US warehouses in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia or California, and every cartridge carries our 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns. The full Canon 118 range is on our Canon toner page.
