Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the TN115BK different from the standard black cartridge?

Capacity. The TN115BK is the high-yield black for this Brother family, rated at 5,000 pages — double the 2,500 pages of the standard TN110BK — in a cartridge that fits the same black slot. On a per-page basis it is the cheapest way to print black on these machines, and this two-pack stretches that advantage across roughly 10,000 pages.

How much do I actually save with this two-pack?

Two single TN115BK cartridges at $44.92 each would cost $89.84. This two-pack is $71.33, so you save $18.51, paying $35.67 per cartridge. At the 5,000-page rated yield that is about 0.71 cents per page, down from roughly 0.90 cents buying the high-yield single on its own.

Will my printer accept the high-yield cartridge without changes?

Yes — printers in this family were designed for both the standard TN110 and high-yield TN115 cartridges, and the TN115BK installs exactly like the standard one. No settings change, no firmware step, no modification: remove the old cartridge, rock the new one gently to distribute the toner, slide it in, and print.

Which printers does this two-pack fit?

The TN115BK serves the Brother color laser printers built around the TN110/TN115 cartridge family: DCP-9040CN, DCP-9045CDN, HL-4040CDN, HL-4040CN, HL-4070CDW, MFC-9440CN and MFC-9450CDN. Any model on that list with a TN115BK in its specification can run both cartridges in this pack back to back.

Does doubling the yield change print quality over the cartridge's life?

The toner formulation and print density are the same as the standard cartridge; the high-yield unit simply carries more toner. Expect consistent output from the first page to the last, and when pages eventually start to fade, that is your signal the cartridge — not the printer — is nearing the end of its 5,000 pages.

What warranty and returns cover this pack?

Both cartridges are covered by a 1-year warranty, and our shipping & returns policy includes 1-year free returns. We dispatch from warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, and support is available 9 AM – 5 PM CST. If you prefer to buy one cartridge at a time, the single is here: Brother TN115BK single cartridge.
