    Frequently Asked Questions

What does one printed page from the imageCLASS D1150 actually cost with this cartridge?

About 0.65 cents. The cartridge is $32.42 and rated for up to 5,000 pages, and the division is that simple. We will be straight about where that lands: it is not the cheapest per-page figure in the Canon range, because the D1150 is a departmental multifunction machine and its Canon 120 cartridge is sized accordingly. What it is, is a predictable figure — you can budget a D1150's toner for the year from that 0.65-cent number and your meter readings, with no surprises built in.

How long will 5,000 pages last the way a D1150 actually gets used?

A D1150 usually lives as a shared workgroup machine — printing, copying and faxing all draw on the same cartridge. At a combined 500 pages a month, one cartridge covers about ten months. At 1,000 pages a month it is roughly five months, and a busy department at 2,000 a month will finish one in about ten weeks. The 5,000-page rating assumes the standard 5% page coverage; dense documents and heavy copy work pull the real figure down, light text stretches it out.

Is this the same cartridge the rest of the D series in our office uses?

Yes — and it is one of the platform's genuine conveniences. This is the Canon 120 cartridge, and it serves the whole imageCLASS D family in this class: the D1120, D1150, D1170, D1180, D1320, D1350, D1370 and D1520. If your office runs a mix of those models, one spare cartridge on the shelf covers every one of them, instead of a different box per machine. Check the cartridge code in any of them and you will find the same Canon 120.

Print is fading down one side of the page — is the cartridge empty?

Usually not. One-sided fading normally means the remaining toner has settled unevenly inside the cartridge. Take it out, hold it level, and rock it gently side to side five or six times to redistribute the toner, then put it back. If the print evens out, there was life left in it. If the page is uniformly pale everywhere and rocking changes nothing, then the cartridge is genuinely near the end and it is time for this replacement.

What happens if this cartridge fails or prints badly?

It is covered twice over: a 1-year warranty against defects, and 1-year free returns if it does not perform as it should. Full terms are on our shipping and returns page, and our support team is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST if you would rather talk it through first. Choosing a compatible cartridge does not mean being stuck with a bad one.

Should we keep a spare on the shelf for a shared machine?

For a machine the whole workgroup depends on, yes — a D1150 rarely empties at a convenient moment, and a spare turns a toner emergency into a two-minute swap. Keep the spare sealed in its bag, flat, somewhere cool and dry away from sunlight and heat. Write the arrival month on the box so the oldest cartridge is always used first, and reorder when the spare goes in, not when the machine stops.
