Frequently Asked Questions
The D1370 is the hardest-worked machine we own — how do we plan its toner instead of reacting to it?
Read the meter, not the mood. A D1370 at the top of the D series usually carries the heaviest volume in the office, which makes its toner the most predictable to plan: note the monthly page count once, divide it into the cartridge's 5,000-page rating, and you have your change interval. Then set the reorder point at the moment you fit the last spare, not the moment the machine stops. On a machine this busy, toner should be a calendar entry, never a surprise.
What does 5,000 pages look like at genuinely high volume?
Shorter than the same rating on any other machine in the family. At 2,500 pages a month — realistic for a lead department machine — one cartridge lasts about two months. At 4,000 pages a month it is five weeks. The rating itself assumes standard 5% page coverage, so a D1370 producing dense reports and forms will finish cartridges sooner than the arithmetic suggests. Plan on the conservative side; a spare on the shelf costs $32.42, a stalled flagship machine costs goodwill.
At our volume, can we get the per-page cost below 0.65 cents?
Not with this cartridge, and we will not pretend otherwise. The Canon 120 is a single standard size, and $32.42 over 5,000 rated pages is 0.65 cents a page whether you use one cartridge a year or one a month. Where a high-volume office actually saves money is not in shaving that figure — it is in never wasting a partially used cartridge, never paying rush shipping on an emergency order, and never losing a workday to an empty machine. Planning is the discount on a machine like the D1370.
Print quality dropped right after we changed the cartridge — what do we check first?
Three things, in order, before blaming the cartridge. First, the protective seal: make sure the sealing tape was pulled fully out of the new cartridge — a partially removed seal starves the machine of toner and mimics a faulty cartridge perfectly. Second, seating: take the cartridge out and reseat it firmly so it sits level and fully home. Third, distribution: rock it gently side to side a few times. If output is still poor after all three, then the cartridge itself is the suspect — and it is covered, as the next answers explain.
Does the D1370 take the same cartridge as the smaller D models?
Yes. The whole imageCLASS D family in this class — D1120, D1150, D1170, D1180, D1320, D1350, D1370 and D1520 — runs on this one Canon 120 cartridge design. For an office with a D1370 working as the lead machine beside smaller D models, that means one spare cartridge covers the entire fleet, and the busiest machine can borrow the spare bought for the quietest one.
What cover backs this cartridge if we standardise on it?
Every cartridge carries our 1-year warranty against defects and 1-year free returns if it does not perform as it should, with the full terms on our shipping and returns page. For a machine that cannot afford downtime, the practical point is the combination: US warehouse stock in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia or California for fast replacement, and support available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST when something needs sorting out.
