Frequently Asked Questions

How does a 48,000-page cartridge change the way a copy room plans?

It takes toner off the monthly agenda. One Canon GPR-24 (1872B003AA) is rated at 48,000 pages, so on a production machine running 12,000 pages a month, a cartridge change is a once-a-quarter event rather than a recurring interruption. Supply planning for the imageRUNNER 5050-class machines becomes a calendar note, not a standing worry — and the low-toner warning, when it finally appears, still leaves a long runway before the cartridge is actually done.

What does the toner cost per page on a single cartridge?

At $93.77 for 48,000 rated pages, the toner works out to roughly 0.20 cents per page — cartridge cost only, before paper and service. The rating assumes the standard 5% coverage test page; heavy solid fills will trim the real yield, plain text stretches it. Even bought one at a time, this yield class keeps the per-page figure among the lowest in the copier range.

Is the GPR-24 the same cartridge as the GPR-17?

No, and the similarity in names causes real ordering mistakes. The GPR-24, part number 1872B003AA, serves the imageRUNNER 5050 family. The GPR-17, part number 0279B003AA, serves the imageRUNNER 5070, 5570 and 6570. They are different cartridges for different machines and do not substitute for each other. The part number on the cartridge coming out of your machine is the deciding check.

Which machines does this cartridge fit?

The GPR-24 (1872B003AA) is made for Canon's imageRUNNER 5050, imageRUNNER 5050N, imageRUNNER 5055, imageRUNNER 5065 and imageRUNNER 5075. If your device is one of those and its supply list names the GPR-24, this single cartridge is the standard restock for it.

What happens if a cartridge fails in the middle of a long production run?

The cartridge is covered by our 1-year warranty against defects and 1-year free returns if it does not perform as it should; a failing unit is handled under those terms rather than written off. The full terms are on our shipping and returns page, and support is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST — the hours production floors are staffed.

Should we keep a spare on site for a cartridge that lasts this long?

Most production sites do, because the cost of a stopped machine dwarfs the cost of a shelf cartridge. Keep the spare sealed, flat, in a cool dry place away from direct sun and machine exhaust heat. Orders ship from our warehouses in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California, so even without a spare, a replacement is a domestic shipment away.
