    Frequently Asked Questions

Is this the part I replace when prints come out streaky even with a fresh toner?

Usually, yes. The DR630 is the drum unit — the cylinder that transfers the image to the page — while the toner cartridge only supplies powder. Toner typically lasts 1,200–2,600 pages depending on the cartridge, but this drum is rated for 12,000 pages, so it outlives several toners. Faded bands, repeating dots or grey background that survive a toner swap are classic drum symptoms.

How do I know the drum is actually at the end of its life?

Your printer counts drum pages and shows a 'Replace Drum' message near the rated life, but print quality is the real test: evenly spaced marks that repeat down the page, light print across the whole sheet, or smudged backgrounds point to the drum surface. If a brand-new toner prints fine, the drum still has life — there is no need to change both together.

Which printers does the DR630 fit?

This drum works in the DCP-L2520DW, DCP-L2540DW, HL-L2300D, HL-L2305W, HL-L2315DW, HL-L2320D, HL-L2340DW, HL-L2360DW, HL-L2380DW, MFC-L2680W, MFC-L2685DW, MFC-L2700DW, MFC-L2705DW, MFC-L2707DW and MFC-L2720DW series of Brother laser printers and all-in-ones. Match the drum model, not just the toner code: any machine that takes a DR630 drum takes this unit, regardless of whether you run TN630 or TN660 toners in it.

Can I install it myself without a service visit?

Yes — it is a user-replaceable unit. Slide out the drum-and-toner assembly, press the green lock lever to lift out the old toner, click the toner into the new drum until it locks, and slide the assembly back in. No tools, and the whole swap takes about two minutes.

What happens if the counter message stays on after I change the drum?

The drum counter must be reset from the printer's panel after installation, otherwise the machine keeps reporting the old count. The reset steps differ slightly by model and are in your printer's manual; until the reset is done the warning remains even though the new drum is printing correctly.

What protection comes with this drum?

Every Clever Supplies drum is covered by a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns under our shipping and returns policy. If the unit underperforms at any point in that window, contact support (9 AM – 5 PM CST) and we will make it right.

    About This DR630 Drum Unit

The genuine-style DR630 drum unit from Clever Supplies is rated for up to 12,000 pages and costs $31.82 as a single. It is the imaging half of the print system in Brother machines that pair it with TN630 or TN660 toner cartridges. Orders ship from our warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, so most addresses see the drum within a few business days.

Received my new drum installed it with a net compatible toner and my printer is printing beautifully. I have been purchasing compatible toners for about 4 years now rarely do I have any issues. The money I save is always a plus! Worth every penny!

The compatible Brother DR630 Drum cartridge installed just as easily as the original and works just fine. Of course time will tell if it will last as long as the Brother branded drum. But even if it doesn't it was a fraction of the cost. Very pleased so

So much cheaper the OEM parts and they get the job done for a lot less money. Would recommend as good replacement.

My old drum was covering the paper with toner no matter what I printed and how I cleaned the unit. I put this drum in place after some minor toner clean-up and I received a crisp clean printout on my first page.

it works ok. thought there would be a problem at first because the printing was light but then pulled it out and cleaned the rear slide and that fixed the problem. works great now.
