Our 7665 mostly scans documents to email and receives faxes. Which of those jobs actually use this toner?
Scanning uses none of it — a scan is light and software, no cartridge involved. Printing and copying draw toner, and so does every fax the machine prints onto paper. If your office still lets incoming faxes land on paper, they come out of the black cartridge, 006R01219. Route faxes to email instead and the black cartridge's 30,000-page rating stretches noticeably further.
Before ordering, how do we confirm the numbers without opening the machine up?
The supplies screen on the control panel lists the installed cartridges by part number — read it right there. You are looking for 006R01219 (black), 006R01222 (cyan), 006R01221 (magenta) and 006R01220 (yellow). If those four are what the screen shows, this $433.01 set is the correct restock for your WorkCentre 7665, no tools and no service call needed.
Why are the color cartridges rated higher than the black one?
Because of how offices actually print. Black is rated at 30,000 pages and each color at 34,000: text pages lean almost entirely on black, so black is consumed steadily, while cyan, magenta and yellow are spent only where a page carries color. The ratings simply mirror that division of labor — plan your reorder rhythm around the black cartridge and the colors will roughly keep pace.
Does receiving a set commit us to changing all four cartridges together?
Not at all. Install each cartridge when its predecessor runs out. A scan-and-fax office may go through two black cartridges before a color needs attention, and there is no harm in a set being opened and used one piece at a time — the remaining cartridges stay sealed and ready.
