Most reliable printing you can count on page after page
We bought a used Phaser EX7890 with no paperwork. How do we work out which cartridges it takes?
Let the machine tell you. Open it and read the labels on the cartridges installed, or bring up the supplies status on the control panel. This family runs on 106R00652 (black), 106R00653 (cyan), 106R00654 (magenta) and 106R00655 (yellow). If your machine shows those numbers, this $648.63 set is its refill — the printer itself is a more reliable source than a seller's listing description.
The cartridges inside carry numbers that do not match that list. What then?
Do not force anything and do not order yet. A mismatch can mean a previous owner installed the wrong supplies, or that the machine is a different variant than its badge suggests. Note the numbers you found and contact our support team — Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST — and we will help pin down what the machine actually needs before you spend anything.
What should we expect from the first set in a machine with unknown history?
Treat it as your baseline measurement. The ratings stand at up to 32,000 pages for black and 22,000 pages for each color at standard coverage, but a used machine's duty cycle in your hands is an unknown until you have run one set through it. Record install dates and rough volumes, and by the second set you will know your own consumption figures instead of relying on anyone's ratings.
Should a full set go in at once, so everything starts fresh together?
That is a reasonable approach with a second-hand machine: it gives you one known starting line for all four colors and simplifies your baseline. It is not mandatory — swapping each cartridge as it empties works just as well mechanically — but many buyers of used equipment prefer the clean slate, then move to single swaps afterwards.
No drums or other parts in this box, correct?
Correct. The set is four toner cartridges only. A used machine may also need imaging drums or other wear items, which are separate purchases; if the printer's messages mention a drum rather than toner, that warning is about a different part, and our support team can help you identify it.
What delivery and return terms apply to our order?
Sets ship from our warehouses in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California, and returns are free for a year — reassuring when you are buying for a machine you are still getting to know. Full detail is on our shipping and returns page, every cartridge carries a 1-year warranty, and supplies for your other equipment are collected on the Xerox brand page.
About This Phaser EX7890 Toner Set
A second-hand Phaser EX7890 is often the smartest way into this printer family: production-class output at a fraction of the original hardware cost, provided the supplies are right. This set supplies it with 106R00652 black rated at 32,000 pages, and 106R00653 cyan, 106R00654 magenta and 106R00655 yellow rated at 22,000 pages each — $648.63 for all four. It is the same set used by the Phaser 7750, Phaser EX7750, Phaser EX7760 and Phaser EX7800, which widens your options if the fleet grows. Verify the numbers against the machine in front of you, and a used printer becomes a known quantity.
