    Frequently Asked Questions

Why does our WorkCentre seem to run through magenta faster than the other colors?

Because magenta does more work per page than its share of the color wheel suggests. Every red your office prints — logo bars, chart highlights, the warning text on a form — is laid down as magenta under yellow, and magenta is also a working ingredient in purples, pinks, burgundy and the warm half of most skin tones in a scanned photograph. Offices that produce their own handouts, proposals and signage lean on exactly those colors, so this position empties first while cyan and yellow still show healthy levels. It is a consumption pattern, not a leak: the 006R01459 is rated at 15,000 pages at standard coverage, and a marketing-heavy month simply spends that rating faster than a month of plain correspondence would.

Our company red is printing orange, and the purples look blue. Is this cartridge the problem?

Those two shifts together point squarely at magenta. Red is a two-cartridge recipe — magenta plus yellow — so when magenta delivery fades, the yellow underneath takes over and reds slide toward orange, then toward a muddy brown. Purple is magenta plus cyan, so the same weakness drains the red out of it and leaves blue standing alone; skin tones in photographs lose their warmth the same way and start to look gray. Print the machine's internal color test page to separate printer from computer: if the reds are wrong on that page too, no driver setting is involved, and a fresh 006R01459 in the magenta position brings the whole family of colors back at once.

What does the magenta position cost us per page?

The cartridge sells for $99.03 and carries a 15,000-page rating, which puts the magenta share of a standard-coverage page at roughly 0.66 cents. That is the whole arrangement — one cartridge, bought outright, with no click charges, no service contract and no minimum monthly volume standing behind it. For a business comparing this shelf price against a cost-per-copy agreement, that two-thirds-of-a-cent figure is the number the magenta position contributes to every color page the machine turns out at standard coverage.

If the magenta warning appears in the middle of the week, what stops and what keeps running?

Less stops than most people expect. Black-and-white printing and copying draw on the black cartridge only, so everyday documents, invoices and faxes carry on normally while magenta is low. Color work is what suffers, and it suffers gradually: reds and purples drift further off-shade the longer the cartridge is stretched, which is a real problem if the job going out carries your branding. Treat the first low warning as the ordering trigger rather than the emergency — the cartridge keeps printing through the warning period — and swap in the replacement between jobs instead of mid-run, so a long color document does not change shade halfway through.

Which WorkCentre models does the 006R01459 fit?

It serves two generations of Xerox's compact color workgroup line. The current generation is the WorkCentre 7220 and WorkCentre 7225, together with their ConnectKey "i" versions — the WorkCentre 7220i, the WorkCentre 7225i and the WorkCentre WC7220TI. Behind them it also fits the earlier WorkCentre 7120 and WorkCentre 7125. The suffixes and the "i" badge describe controllers and software, not a different toner compartment — all seven machines take this same magenta cartridge. The label on the cartridge you remove is the final word: if it reads 006R01459, you are looking at its replacement.

What cover does this cartridge carry, and how should a spare be stored?

Every cartridge is backed by a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns, so a unit that fails early or arrives damaged is replaced or refunded instead of becoming your problem. A spare is worth holding if color deadlines matter, since magenta is usually the first position to empty: store it sealed in its box, upright, away from direct sunlight and heat, and fit the stored cartridge next so stock rotates rather than ages. Orders leave from the closest of our four warehouses — Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California — with the full terms on the shipping & returns page, and our support team is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST for fitment or print-quality questions. The remaining cartridges for these machines are listed in the Xerox section.

About This Xerox 006R01459 Magenta Toner Cartridge

A single compatible magenta cartridge, part number 006R01459, for Xerox's small color workgroup machines — the WorkCentre 7120, 7125, 7220 and 7225 families. It is rated at 15,000 pages and priced at $99.03, which works out to about 0.66 cents per rated page. Magenta carries the reds, purples and warm tones these machines are usually bought to produce, so it is commonly the first color position to need attention; keeping an eye on its level on the supplies screen is the simplest way to keep brand colors honest. A 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns stand behind it.
