Frequently Asked Questions

Why keep a deep toner stock for a machine that receives faxes?

Because its consumption is only partly yours to schedule. The SCX-4833FD prints your jobs and also prints whatever arrives on the fax line, and 25,000 pages of stock in the cupboard means neither workload can strand the machine. With five MLT-D205L cartridges on hand, an empty cartridge becomes a two-minute swap at any hour, not a delivery wait with faxes backing up behind it.

What saving does the five-pack hold for us?

The box is $121.13 — $24.23 per cartridge instead of $39.02 bought one at a time, which is $73.97 saved across the five and a per-page toner cost of about 0.48 cents rather than 0.78 cents. On a machine that prints around the clock, that difference is applied to a large page count, so it adds up faster here than on a lightly used printer.

How should five cartridges be stored in an office like ours?

Sealed in their bags, flat, in a cool dry cupboard, and fitted in the order they arrived. Keep them somewhere the person who changes toner will actually find them — a labelled shelf near the SCX-4833FD beats a forgotten storeroom — and let the stock fall to one cartridge before reordering, so the buffer is never quietly exhausted.

Can the pack also supply other machines, or is it the fax machine's own?

It can supply any of them. The MLT-D205L is one cartridge for many machines — the ML-3310, ML-3310ND and ML-3312D printers, the ML-3710, ML-3712 and ML-3712ND, and the SCX-4833, SCX-4835, SCX-4835FR, SCX-5639FR and SCX-5737 multifunctions. Holding the five as common stock simply means the busiest machine draws first.

If a cartridge in the middle of the box proves faulty, what happens?

That unit alone is returned. Each cartridge carries its own cover — a year's warranty and free returns for a year — so a streaking or leaking cartridge comes back at no cost while the remaining ones stay in the cupboard. Swap the next cartridge in first: if it prints cleanly, the fault travelled with the old unit. How to return it is set out on the shipping and returns page.

Anything else this machine will need that the box does not cover?

The drum, eventually. The MLT-R205 drum unit is the platform's other consumable, it runs on a much longer cycle than toner, and it is sold separately in our Samsung toner range. This pack is toner only — dispatch is from our IL, PA, GA or CA warehouses, and support runs Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
