Frequently Asked Questions

What should the first pages look like when this cartridge goes into an SCX-4824?

Clean, even and fully black from the first sheet. A fresh MLT-D209L should produce solid text with no pale bands, grey backgrounds or repeating marks; the first few pages may look marginally lighter while toner settles through the machine, but anything streaky or patchy after half a dozen pages is worth raising with us under the warranty rather than living with.

How many pages will one cartridge realistically give this machine?

The rating is 5,000 pages at five percent coverage, and an SCX-4824 used for ordinary correspondence, copying and the odd received fax will land reasonably close to it. Full-page forms, dense tables and heavy copying pull the figure down; light memos push it up. Most owners measure a cartridge's life in months — at 600 output pages a month, expect around eight.

Do copies and scans both use this cartridge?

Copies do; scans do not. Anything the SCX-4824 puts on paper — a print from your computer, a copy off the glass, a fax it receives — is drawn from this cartridge. Scanning a document to your PC or email uses the scanner lamp and no toner at all, so a day spent digitising files costs the cartridge nothing.

Which other printers share this cartridge?

The MLT-D209L is also listed for the ML-2855 and ML-2855ND printers and the SCX-4824FN and SCX-4826FN multifunctions, beside the SCX-4824 in this listing. The practical check never changes: the code printed on the cartridge you are taking out should read MLT-D209L.

What does one cartridge cost, in page terms?

At $37.58 for a 5,000-page rating, toner works out at roughly 0.75 cents per output page — prints, copies and received faxes alike. As the high-yield cartridge for this platform, it also stretches the interval between changes, which matters on a machine the whole office leans on.

How are we covered if it misbehaves?

For a full year: the cartridge is warranted for twelve months, and returns carry no charge across the same twelve months if a unit leaks, streaks or fails early. You will find the full wording on our shipping and returns page. Stock leaves from IL, PA, GA or CA warehouses, and support runs Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
