Frequently Asked Questions
Between printing and copying, how long does a 10,000-page supply last the SCX-4500?
Both jobs draw on the same pool, because every copy the SCX-4500 makes is a printed page underneath. Add the two together and divide into 10,000: a household or desk that prints and copies about 100 pages a week works through this five-pack in roughly 100 weeks, while a busy one at 250 pages a week finishes it in about 40. The ML-D1630A's 2,000-page rating applies per cartridge, whichever job produced the pages.
What does each cartridge in this pack work out to?
The box is $189.08 for five cartridges, which is $37.82 apiece against $52.61 for the single listing - a saving of $73.97 across the pack compared with buying five singles. In page terms the cost falls from about 2.63 cents to about 1.89 cents for every page the SCX-4500 prints or copies.
Does copying really spend these cartridges as fast as printing does?
Yes - a copy spends toner exactly the way the same page sent from a computer would, because the machine scans the original and then prints it. Scanning on its own is different: sending a scan to a file puts nothing on paper and uses no toner at all. On an SCX-4500 that copies heavily, expect the pack's pages to disappear at the combined print-plus-copy pace, not the print pace alone.
How should we rotate five cartridges so none of them sits too long?
Work through the box in the order the cartridges arrived: keep the spares sealed on a cool, dry shelf, open the oldest one first and mark the date on the box as each goes in. Toner is a dry powder and keeps well while sealed, so a first-in, first-out habit is all it takes to keep every cartridge in this pack fresh until its turn.
Which machines does the cartridge in this pack fit?
Every cartridge in the box is a Samsung ML-D1630A, the cartridge this SCX-4500 listing is built around. The same code also serves the ML-1630 and ML-1630W printers, so one pack can keep a mixed desk of these machines supplied; this listing simply presents it for the SCX-4500.
What cover comes with a five-pack purchase?
Each cartridge in the pack carries the same protection as the single: a one-year warranty, and free returns for a full year if a cartridge arrives faulty or fails early. Cartridges ship from the closest of our Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California warehouses, and help is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
