Frequently Asked Questions

How many reams of paper will one cartridge get through in the ML-3470?

Twenty, on the rating. The ML-D3470B is rated at 10,000 pages, and a ream holds 500 sheets, so one cartridge covers roughly twenty reams of paper before it runs dry. For an ML-3470 printing a ream a week, that is about five months between cartridge changes; at two reams a month, closer to ten. Counting reams is the easiest way to turn the rating into a calendar, because paper purchases are something most offices already track.

Is the 10,000-page figure a promise or a rating?

A rating. Yields are measured on a standard test page at around five percent coverage, so the number is a comparison tool rather than a guarantee for any particular office. Pages of dense text, forms with shaded boxes and bold graphics all lay down more toner and pull the real total below 10,000; light correspondence pulls it the other way. What the rating does promise is a fair comparison: this high-yield ML-D3470B carries roughly two and a half times the fill of the standard ML-D3470A, so the ML-3470 stops for toner far less often.

What does one printed page cost with this cartridge?

At $65.65 for 10,000 rated pages, the arithmetic lands at about 0.66 cents per page for toner. That is the figure to hold against any rival quote: same printer, same rated yield basis, cost per page decides. Paper and electricity sit on top of it, but among cartridges for this platform the per-page number is where the high-yield fill earns its keep.

Which printers does this cartridge fit?

The ML-D3470B is listed for the ML-3470 in this listing's title, and the wider compatibility list runs to the ML-3470D, ML-3470ND and ML-3471DK. If the office runs more than one of those machines, a single cartridge code covers all of them, which keeps the supply shelf simple. Check the code stamped on your current cartridge against ML-D3470B before ordering if there is any doubt.

What is involved in changing the cartridge?

Very little. This is a combined unit, so there is no separate drum to order, track or transfer parts from: open the printer, lift out the spent cartridge, slide this one in until it seats, and close up. The first pages should come out clean and dark straight away. The whole job takes a couple of minutes and needs no tools and no changes to the printer's settings.

What cover comes with the cartridge?

Two layers, both a year long. A one-year warranty stands behind the cartridge against defects, and returns are free of charge across the same twelve months if the box turns out to be wrong for your machine or arrives faulty. The full wording sits on the shipping and returns page, and support answers Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, if you want to talk a return through first.

About This ML-D3470B Cartridge for the ML-3470

Some printers earn their keep by simply not stopping, and the ML-3470 is one of them. This compatible ML-D3470B feeds that habit: $65.65 buys 10,000 rated pages at roughly 0.66 cents a page, with the high-yield fill stretching the gap between changes well beyond what the standard-yield sibling manages. One code also covers the ML-3470D, ML-3470ND and ML-3471DK, and the rest of the Samsung toner cartridge range covers any other machines the office runs alongside it.
