Frequently Asked Questions

How should I store and rotate five cartridges for my MB471W?

Use them in the order they sit in the box — first in, first out — so no cartridge spends years at the back of the shelf. Keep the spares sealed in their packaging, lying flat in a cool, dry cupboard, away from windows and heat. Sealed toner keeps well for long periods, so a rotation habit is all that is needed: when the installed 44574701 fades, take the oldest remaining cartridge, install it, and move the rest forward.

Will a cartridge still print properly after sitting on the shelf for a year or more?

Yes, as long as it stayed sealed and was stored sensibly. Toner powder does not dry out the way ink does, and an unopened cartridge kept away from heat and damp will perform as rated when it is finally installed. The storage conditions matter more than the calendar: a cartridge left on a sunny windowsill or next to a heater is the one that may disappoint, not the one kept in a drawer.

What does the rotation look like in cost terms?

Nothing changes per cartridge: the pack is $68.28, so each of the five 44574701 cartridges costs about $13.66 and is rated at up to 4,000 pages — roughly 0.34 cents per page. Buying the same five cartridges singly at $28.45 would total $142.25, so the pack saves $73.97 whether you use the cartridges over six months or two years.

How do I tell a genuinely empty cartridge from one that just needs redistributing?

When output fades, take the cartridge out and rock it gently side to side a few times, then reinstall it. If print quality recovers, toner was sitting unevenly and there is life left. If pages stay pale after the rock-and-retry, the cartridge is finished — retire it and take the next one in your rotation from the pack.

What cover do I get with these compatible cartridges?

Every cartridge in the pack carries a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns, even though these are compatible 44574701 cartridges rather than original Oki-branded units. That matters with a 5-pack, because the last cartridge may be installed long after purchase. Shipments leave from our warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, and support is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.

When the pack runs low, should I reorder the same way?

If the MB471W's workload has stayed similar, yes — the pack format keeps the per-cartridge cost at its lowest and the rotation habit you have built carries straight over. Reorder when you install the last cartridge, or the second-to-last if the machine is heavily used, so the new box arrives before the shelf is empty.
